Synopsis
It is year 1988 and the Pope Juan Pablo II will visit Melo. It is believed that 50,000 people will attend to see him.
The humblest settlers think that selling food and drink to people they will become rich. Beto, a smuggler in bicycle, decides however to construct a water closet in the front of his house and to rent the service, for this he then cross a series of tragic but fun difficulties.
Nobody sells nothing and just an old lady makes use of the toilet. The dream of Beto is destroyed but throughout the story her daughter has finally reached a better comprehension of him. Perhaps to even love him.
Bio Enrique Fernández / Writer - Director
Since the early 80´s his activity is bound to the cinema. He has been scriptwriter, assistant direction and cameraman in many fiction and documentary shorts, in Uruguay and Germany, where he worked many years. In 1997 was screenwriter of "Otario", feature film directed by Diego Arsuaga, official selection in the San Sebastian Film Festival, Spain. He is professor of screenwriting in the Film School of Uruguay.
Bio Cesar Charlone / Cinematographer - Director
Born in Uruguay but residing in Brazil for more than 30 years. He has a vast experience in the field of advertising, having directed hundreds of commercials for the most important marks of the world. Has worked next to directors like Murilo Salles and Sergio Rezende. In 2004 as cinematographer of "City of God", directed by Fernando Meirelles, obtained a nomination to the Oscars. In 2003 worked under the orders of Tony Scott in the film "Man on Fire" and in the last film of New York director Spike Lee "Suker Free City".
